Project Description

Together with collaborators from the National Institute of Mental Health and the District of Columbia’s Department of Health, this qualitative study aimed to understand the barriers in the provision of HIV services to the severely mentally ill in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.

Assignment

Monica Biradavolu was the Co-PI on this project.

• Conceptualized and designed research study (with Dr. Suad Kapetanovic of the NIH and Dr. Yujiang Jia of the D.C. Department of Health)
• Developed data collection instruments
• Conducted focus groups in 6 facilities for the severely mentally ill across Washington D.C.
• Coded data in NVivo
• Interpreted findings to produce reports
